Ear, nose, and throat infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, otitis media): due to beta-lactamase-negative Streptococcus spp., Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus spp., or H. influenzae
Helicobacter pylori eradication: to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence as a component of combination therapy
Lower RTI (including pneumonia); Acute bacterial rhinosinusitis: due to beta-lactamase-negative Streptococcus spp. (alpha- and beta-hemolytic strains only), S. pneumoniae, Staphylococcus spp., or H. influenzae
Skin and skin structure infections: due to beta-lactamase-negative Streptococcus spp. (alpha- and beta-hemolytic strains only), Staphylococcus spp., or E. coli
Urinary tract infection: due to beta-lactamase-negative E.coli, Proteus mirabilis, or Enterococcus faecalis

Antibiotic, Penicillin
Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic antibiotic that inhibits the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptide. It is similar to penicillin with a broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against many strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.

1. Tmax: 1 to 2 hours
2. Protein binding: approximately 20%
3. Renal excretion: approximately 60% (mostly unchanged); Dialyzable (hemodialysis)
4. Elimination Half Life: 61.4min

Serious hypersensitivity reactions, such as anaphylaxis and SJS, to amoxicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins)

Although the manufacturer recommends that caution be exercised when administering amoxicillin to breastfeeding women, amoxicillin is considered compatible with breastfeeding when used in usual recommended doses

Rash, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, vulvovaginitis, mycotic

Usual dosage range:
500 mg to 1 g every 8 to 12 hours
Helicobacter pylori eradication:
Amoxicillin 1 g twice daily in combination with other drugs
Otitis media, acute:
500 mg every 8 hours or 875 mg every 12 hours
Pneumonia, community acquired:
1 g 3 times daily; Duration is for a minimum of 5 days, patients should be clinically stable before therapy is discontinued
Rhinosinusitis, acute bacterial:
500 mg every 8 hours or 875 mg every 12 hours for 5 to 7 days
Skin and soft tissue infection:
500 mg 3 times daily for 5 to 10 days; with extension to 14 days for slow response, severe infection, or immunosuppression
Streptococcal pharyngitis (group A):
500 mg twice daily or 1 g once daily for 10 days
Urinary tract infection:
500 mg every 8 hours or 875 mg every 12 hours for 4 to 7 days
