Analgesic and antipyretic actions similar to aspirin, no anti-inflammatory properties.

Acetaminophen is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic with minimal anti-inflammatory properties.

Bioavailability, Oral: 85% to 98%; Protein binding: 10% to 25%; Metabolism: Liver: extensive; Excretion: Bile - 2.6%, Renal: less than 5% unchanged, Dialyzable: Yes (hemodialysis); Elimination Half Life: adults, 2 to 3 hours, neonates, 4 to 11 hours, Children, 1.5 to 4.2 hours.

Hypersensitivity to acetaminophen or any component of the formulation; severe hepatic impairment or severe active liver disease.

Considered safe in therapeutic dose at any stage of gestation. Fetal liver toxicity, renal disease, and malformations have been reported in cases of contiuous use or high daily dose.

Safe, however, one case of skin rash occuring in an infant has been reported. Milk/plasma ratios have varied from 0.5-1.42.

Erythematous or urticarial skin reaction, drowsiness, agranulocytosis, liver damage, renal tubural necrosis, methemoglobinemia.
