Etoricoxib is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agent (dipyridinyl derivative) for oral administration. It is a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).

1. Onset: 25-30 min; Duration: at least 24 hrs; Bioavailability: 80%-100%
2. Plasma protein bound: 92%
3. Metabolism: extensively metabolized in liver, primarily via CYP3A4, with <1% of a dose recovered in urine as the parent drug
4. Elimination half-life: 22 hrs

1. Hypersensitivity to etoricoxib, aspirin or other NSAIDs
2. Congestive heart failure (NYHA II-IV); established ischemic heart disease
3. Peripheral arterial disease and/or cerebrovascular disease (including patients who have recently undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery or angioplasty)
4. Acute peptic ulcer disease or GI bleeding
5. Severe renal or hepatic disease

1. Contraindicated during pregnancy ≥30 weeks.<20220425>
2. Not recommended during pregnancy after 20 weeks, may cause loss of amniotic fluid and fetus renal dysfunction.<20220425>

Asthenia/fatigue, dizziness, lower extremity edema, hypertension, dyspepsia, heartburn, nausea, headache, ALT increased, AST increased

Osteoarthritis (OA):
30 mg orally once daily; may increase to 60 mg once daily
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA):
90 mg once daily
Acute gouty arthritis and primary dysmenorrhea:
120 mg once daily (MAX 8 days)

ClCr <30 ml/min: Not recommended
