痤瘡 Treatment of acne vulgaris, melasma

The primary advantage of azelaic acid over conventional acne regimens is minimal toxicity (cutaneous and systemic). It is an alternative therapy in patients intolerant of or unresponsive to topical or oral therapy, with antibiotics or topical benzoyl peroxide.

Less than 4% of a topically applied dose is systemically absorbed
