Blocks neural transmission at the myoneural junction by binding with cholinergic receptor sites

1. Onset: 2-3 min; peak effect: 3-5 min
2. Duration: 31-91 min
3. Metabolism: undergoes rapid non-enzymatic degradation in the blood stream, additional metabolism occurs via ester hydrolysis; some active metabolites
4. Elimination half-life: 22-29 min

Hypersensitive to cisatracurium, atracurium or benzenesulfonic acid

Dosage:
1. Intubating dose: Initial 0.15–0.2 mg/kg IV bolus, then 0.03 mg/kg IV 40-60 min after initial dose
2. Continuous IV infusion: initial 1–3 μg/kg/min, then 1–2 μg/kg/min
Administration:
1. Mix in D5W, NS or D5NS, do NOT dilute in LR
2. Not to be used IM

(For children 2-12 years of age)
1. Initial: 0.1 mg/kg IV over 5-10 seconds
2. Maintenance: initial 3 μg/kg/min IV infusion, then decrease to 1-2 μg/kg/min
