Levofloxacin's bactericidal action results from interference with the enzymes topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase, which are needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA.

Only small amounts are absorbed systemically after ophthalmic instillation.

Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, any component of the formulation, or other quinolones.

Use caution

Ocular: Decreased vision (transient), foreign body sensation, transient ocular burning, ocular pain or discomfort, photophobia.

Usually, instill 1 drop into affected eyes, 3 times daily. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient’s symptoms.
