Penicillin類抗生素 Treatment of infection caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains of Staphylococcus supp, Streptococcus supp, Neisseria meningitidis

Absorption well absorbed
Distribution protein binding: amoxicillin 18%, clavulanic acid 25%
Excretion renal: amoxicillin 50-70 %, clavulanic acid 30-40% as unchanged drug; Moderately dialyzable (20% to 50%)
Elimination half-life 1hr

1. Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, other beta-lactam antibacterial drugs (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins), or any component of the formulation
2. History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction with amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium therapy

Both amoxicillin and clavulanic acid cross the placenta; use with caution

Amoxicillin/clavulanate is considered compatible with breastfeeding when used in usual recommended doses; monitor infants for GI disturbances, such as thrush and diarrhea

Diarrhea (most common), loose stools, skin rash, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, vaginal candidiasis

(Adults and children >12 years of age) 1 g every 12 hours

Not recommended in children under 12 years of age

1. CrCl ≥30 mL/min: No dosage adjustment necessary
2. CrCl <30 mL/min: Contraindicated

Use with caution; monitor liver function closely
