First Generation (Typical) Antipsychotic
Flupenthixol is a piperidine-substituted thioxanthene neuroleptic which is structurally similar to thiothixene, flupenthixol is an antagonist at postsynaptic D1 and D2 dopamine receptors

Time to Peak Concentration: (IM) 3 to 10 days
Elimination half-life: 22 to 36 hours

1. Comatose patients, particularly those under the influence of alcohol, barbiturate, narcotics or other CNS depression
2. Patients with bone marrow depression

Avoided; the milk/plasma ratio ranged from 0.50-1.62, although no effects of the drug exposure were observed in nursing infants but long-term exposure to the drug is unknown

Extrapyramidal symptom, restlessness, insomnia, depressive reaction, urinary incontinence, weight gain
