Fibrinogen deficiency

Blood Product Derivative
Fibrinogen (coagulation factor I), a protein found in normal plasma, is required to clot blood. Fibrinogen concentrate made from pooled human plasma replaces this protein which is missing or reduced in patients with a congenital fibrinogen deficiency.

Severe, immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis to fibrinogen, human plasma-derived products, or any component of the formulation.

The decision to continue or discontinue breastfeeding during therapy should take into account the risk of infant exposure, the benefits of breastfeeding to the infant, and benefits of treatment to the mother.

1.Gastrointestinal: Nausea (>5%), vomiting (>5%)
2.Hematologic: Thrombocythemia (>5%)
3.Nervous system: Headache (>1%)
4.Miscellaneous: Fever (>1%)

Congenital fibrinogen deficiency
Dose (mg/kg) = [Target level (g/L) - measured level (g/L)] divided by 0.017 (g/L per mg/kg body weight)
Bleeding
For bleeding before and after surgery, usually 1-2g (or 30 mg/kg body weight) is administered, and continued infusion as needed.
