Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant that works by its central pre-synaptic alpha2-adrenergic antagonist effects, which results in increased release of norepinephrine and serotonin.

Hypersensitivity to mirtazapine or any component of the formulation; use of MAO inhibitors within 14 days.

Somnolence, xerostomia, appetite increased, weight gain, constipation, cholesterol increased, serum triglycerides raised

15 mg/day orally at bedtime, MAX 45 mg/day. Open blister pack with dry hands and place the tablet on tongue; use tablet immediately after removal from package; once removed, it cannot be stored. Tablet will disintegrate rapidly on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva; no water is needed. Do not split the tablet.
