Hypoproteinemia with or without edema, burns, shock, unless the pathology responsible for hypoproteinemia can be corrected, albumin in any form can afford only symptomatic or supportive relief.

Severe anemia, cardiac failure, patient on cardiopulmonary bypass, or in presence of normal or increased intravascular volume.

Rapid infusion results in hypotension, allergic or pyrogenic reaction, tachycardia.

Burns: 25% solution IV, to achieve plasma albumin level of about 2.5 gm/dl. Hypovolemic Shock: 100-200 ml of 25% solution IV, may repeat in 15-30 min
