Mefenamic acid is a nonsteroidal drug with analgesic, antiinflammatory, and antipyretic activity. The precise mechanism of action is not known but is thought to be related to prostaglandin synthetase inhibition.
1. Known hypersensitivity to mefenamic acid or any component of the product.
2. History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reaction following aspirin or other NSAID administration.
3. In the setting of CABG surgery.
Dysmenorrhea:
Initial, 500 mg orally; followed by 250 mg every 6 hours, beginning at onset of bleeding and symptoms, and continued for 2 to 3 days Fever:
500 mg orally at onset of fever, may repeat every 6 hours as needed Pain, acute, Mild to moderate:
Initial, 500 mg orally; followed by 250 mg every 6 hours as needed, usually not longer than 1 week.

Should not administer to patients with preexisting renal disease or in patients with significant renal impairment.
