止吐口服 (antiemetics PO) Nausea, vomiting, excessive anxiety, relatively mild psychiatric conditions & moderate to severe psychiatric conditions.

Prochlorperazine, a phenothiazine derivative, is an antiemetic. The drug inhibits apomorphine-induced vomiting and has been shown to directly affect the medullary chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ), apparently by blocking dopamine receptors in the CTZ.

Following oral administration, the drug has an onset of action of approximately 30–40 minutes and a duration of action of 3–4 hours.

Coma, drug-induced CNS depression, bone marrow depression.

Based on minimal excretion of other phenothiazine derivatives, it appears that occasional short-term use of prochlorperazine for the treatment of nausea and vomiting poses little risk to the breastfed infant.

Extrapyramidal symptoms, CNS depression, deep sleep, coma, agitation, convulsions, hypotension, restlessness.

Adults: PO 5-10mg TID or QID, Children: 2.5mg PO QD or BID or TID.
