Onset of action: Paste formation and ulcer adhesion: 1-2 hours; acid neutralizing capacity: 14-17 mEq/1 g dose of sucralfate Duration: Up to 6 hours Absorption: Oral:<5% Distribution: Acts locally at ulcer sites; unbound in GI tract to aluminum and sucrose octasulfate Metabolism: None Excretion: Feces (90%); urine (small amounts as unchanged compounds)

Hypersensitivity to sucralfate or any of its excipients.

Gastrointestinal: Constipation (2%)

Duodenal ulcer disease, Active: 1 gram ORALLY 4 times daily OR 2 grams twice daily for 4 to 8 weeks Maintenance: 1 grams ORALLY twice daily Gastric ulcer, Maintenance: 1 grams ORALLY twice daily Stress ulcer, Prophylaxis:1 gram NG or ORALLY every 6 hours.
