Sulpiride is a substituted benzamide derivative with antipsychotic and antidepressant activity. In contrast to most other neuroleptics which block both dopamine D1 and D2 receptors, sulpiride is more selective and acts primarily as a dopamine D2 antagonist.

Renal Excretion: 70% to 90%

Extra-pyramidal reactions, sedation, tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, cholestatic jaundice, sleep disturbances, over-stimulation, agitation

1. Schizophrenia: Initial 200-400 mg BID, ranging from 200-3200 mg daily
2. Gastric and duodenal ulcers: 50 to 100 mg 3 times daily

1. CLcr 30 - 60 mL/min : 70% of normal dose
2. CLcr 10 - 30 mL/min : 50% of normal dose
3. CLcr < 10 mL/min : 34% of normal dose
