氣喘或慢性阻塞性肺病 Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
1. Asthma (controller/maintenance): Treatment of asthma in patients ≥6 years of age
2. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema; to reduce COPD exacerbations

Long-Acting Beta2-Adrenergic Agonist / Inhalant Corticosteroid
1. Formoterol: Relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by selective action on beta2 receptors with little effect on heart rate; formoterol has a long-acting effect.
2. Budesonide: A corticosteroid which controls the rate of protein synthesis, depresses the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes/fibroblasts, and reverses capillary permeability and lysosomal stabilization at the cellular level to prevent or control inflammation.

Both agents are metabolized in the liver; urinary excretion is about 25% for formoterol (unchanged) and 60% for budesonide (as metabolites). Budesonide has an elimination half-life of 2 to 3 hours.

Asthma (controller/maintenance):
(1) 1 to 2 inhalations once or twice daily until symptom control, then titrate to lowest effective dosage to maintain control.
(2) Maximum recommended maintenance dose: 4 inhalations/day. During periods of worsening asthma, the dose may temporarily be increased up to a maximum of 8 inhalations/day.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:
(1) 2 inhalations twice daily
(2) Maximum 2 inhalations twice daily

Asthma maintenance (≥12y/o):
(1) Initial: 1 to 2 inhalations twice daily until symptom control
(2) Maintenance: 1 to 2 inhalations once or twice daily
(3) May increase to 4 inhalations twice daily as temporary treatment in periods of worsening asthma; MAX: 8 inhalations/day
