Active immunization against tetanus. Booster doses are indicated following wounds prone to tetanus.

primary immunization lasts for approximately 12 years

Hypersensitivity to thimerosal; hypersensitivity to any other component of vaccine; history of central nervous system reactions to DPT vaccine; acute febrile illness; acute infection; acute tetanus infection; defer during a poliomyelitis outbreak

There are no adequate studies in women for determining infant risk when using this medication during breastfeeding. Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.

Local redness, edema and nodule formation. Systemic reactions may include low-grade fever, chills, malaise, and generalized aches and pains.

Adult primary immunization: 2 doses of 0.5ml IM separated by 4 to 8 weeks and a third dose 6 to 12 months after the second dose; booster doses should be administered every 10 years following primary immunization

Children primary immunization: within the first year of life, receive three 0.5 ml IM doses, 4-8 weeks apart with a fourth dose of 0.5 ml, 6-12 months after the third dose

Freezing can decrease potency.
