Parenteral route a) Disodium fosfomycin has been administered intravenously and intramuscularly in doses of 2 to 4 grams daily in divided doses for the treatment of a variety of infections. Doses up to 16 grams daily have been given intravenously in severe infections (Anon, 1991). However, this dosage form is characterized by chemical instability, strong alkalinity, and tissue and vein irritation [15].
