Allergic conjunctivitis - Itching; Prophylaxis

Ketotifen fumarate, a selective, non-competitive histamine antagonist (H1-receptor) and mast cell stabilizer, that acts by inhibiting the release of mediators from cells involved in hypersensitivity reactions and also prevents chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils.

Onset of action: Within minutes.

Hypersensitivity to ketotifen or any component of the formulation

Topical ocular administration has not been studied.

It is not known whether detectable levels of ketotifen would appear in human breast milk following topical ocular administration.

Central nervous system: Headache (?10% to ?25%)
Ophthalmic: Conjunctival injection (?10% to ?25%)
Respiratory: Rhinitis (?10% to ?25%)

Ophthalmic: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily every 8 to 12 hours (maximum: do not exceed 2 applications/day).
