Sodium picosulfate is converted by intestinal bacteria into the active metabolite BHPM.The terminal half-life of sodium picosulfate is 7.4 hours.Approximately 0.19% of the absorbed sodium picosulfate dose is excreted unchanged in the urine.Plasma concentrations of free BHPM are extremely low.Urinary analysis shows that most excreted BHPM is in the glucuronide-conjugated form.

Before each use, dissolve one sachet of PMC powder in approximately 150 mL of room-temperature cold water and stir for at least 5 minutes.As the powder dissolves, the temperature of the solution may increase slightly.Take the first sachet on the evening before the colonoscopy (e.g., between 5 PM and 9 PM).Within 5 hours after administration, consume at least five 250 mL servings of clear liquids.Prepare and take the second sachet 5 hours before the colonoscopy the next day.Within 2 hours after administration, consume at least three 250 mL servings of clear liquids.If severe bloating, abdominal distension, or abdominal pain occurs after the first dose, delay the second dose until symptoms resolve.
